Palm Pre Soon Bound for AT&T?

02/11/2010

Just a couple of weeks after making its debut on the Verizon Wireless network comes word that the Palm Pre might be available through AT&T this spring.

If you do some digging through FCC filings and look at the history of the Pre, you might come to the conclusion that an AT&T Pre will go on sale in May. It’s a little confusing, so hang tight. PreCentral reports that each time Palm has scheduled public photos of one of its webOS phones in the past, the date almost always has matched up with the launch date of the phone. Long story short, when matching up codes that the site believes correspond to the Pre’s ID, the photo availability date will be May 10. That would mean the phone’s availability date would be the 10th or close to it. More code/ID matching makes the site believe that it’s an AT&T phone. Lost you yet?

If that’s not enough to sell you, AT&T CEO Ralph de la Vega has said his company will debut a webOS phone sometime in the first half of the year. Sure, it’s far from a guarantee, but certainly something for Palm lovers who like AT&T to keep an eye on.

The Pre debuted on the Sprint network in the summer of 2009.
